Humanoid Application Center coming to MICS
A practical environment for the future of robotics in manufacturing
At the Mechatronica Innovation Campus Schiedam (MICS), work is underway on a remarkable development: the first European Humanoid Application Center. Here, the focus is not on demonstrations, but on actually building, testing and applying humanoid robots in realistic working environments.
From demonstration to real-world application
Within the Humanoid Application Center, companies will have the opportunity to train humanoid robots for their own specific applications. This does not take place in an abstract lab setting, but in replicated work environments that closely reflect real-world practice.
Companies will operate in their own ‘studios’, where they can develop and refine their specific use cases. This approach ensures that applications are not just theoretical, but directly applicable in day-to-day operations.
Realistic applications for industry
The focus is on practical applications within sectors such as manufacturing and logistics. By training robots in environments that mirror the actual workplace, the step towards implementation becomes smaller and faster.
What sets this approach apart is its emphasis on real use: not concepts or prototypes, but working solutions developed by the very people and organisations that will ultimately use them.
Aligned with MICS ambitions
The arrival of the Humanoid Application Center fits seamlessly with the role of MICS. On the campus, companies, educational institutions and technology partners collaborate on innovation in the manufacturing industry.
By facilitating developments such as this, MICS strengthens its position as a place where new technologies are tested, applied and accelerated towards real-world implementation.
Opening on 2 July
The Humanoid Application Center will officially open its doors on 2 July 2026. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience first-hand what is happening within the centre and to explore the potential of humanoid robotics for their organisation.
