MICS community comes together at annual BBQ

On 10 September, the MICS-community came together for its annual Community BBQ at the entrance to MICS: the MICS Robot.
Employees, entrepreneurs and representatives from companies, educational institutions and public partners based on campus met in an informal setting to catch up, make new connections and look ahead to the continued development of MICS.

A year of progress and development

During the gathering, Niels Langenhuizen (Director of MICS developer SDK Vastgoed) and Doekle Terpstra (MICS representative on behalf of the Rotterdam The Hague Metropolitan Region) reflected with attendees on a year filled with exciting developments. They highlighted the opening of the Humanoid Application Center (HAC), which attracted considerable national and international attention. There was also a focus on the growing collaboration between education, government and industry in the field of talent development, supported in part by the Rotterdam The Hague Metropolitan Region (MRDH). Looking ahead, they discussed several new developments on campus, including the construction of Atlas.

A growing ecosystem

The BBQ once again demonstrated the strength and diversity of the MICS ecosystem. Established organisations such as Metrohm and Boers & Co were joined by newer additions including Alquion, the Humanoid Application Center and Hi Delta. Many organisations from the ONS-building and Synergy were also represented, including MakersMinds, ITeachers, LMesh and the Municipality of Schiedam as the project organisation behind SchieDistrict. Partners such as the Rotterdam The Hague Metropolitan Region, SDK Vastgoed and Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences were also present.

Together, they represent the strength of MICS: a campus where businesses, educational institutions and government organisations come together around innovation, technology and talent development.

Continuing to build MICS together
Alongside a well-catered barbecue, there was plenty of opportunity for attendees to get to know one another. Games and informal conversations created a relaxed atmosphere in which new connections were formed and existing relationships strengthened.

With participants from industry, education and government, the annual Community BBQ once again demonstrated the importance of bringing people together for the continued growth of the MICS ecosystem. It is during these informal moments that ideas are exchanged, new connections emerge and opportunities for future collaboration are explored.
