Winners of the MICS Robot photo competition announced!

Along the A20, the MICS Robot is already attracting plenty of attention as the striking gateway to the Mechatronics Innovation Campus Schiedam (MICS). To mark the official opening in October, MICS launched a photo competition inviting young and old to capture the robot in a creative way. The winners have now been announced.

Primary school winner: workshop by Makerminds

In Category 1 (primary school pupils), the prize was won by Boaz Driessen (7 years old), a pupil at Schats School Noord. Boaz not only submitted an original entry, but also sent an enthusiastic letter explaining his idea. He passes the robot almost every day, and thought it would be amazing if the robot could wear his cap. Together with his mother, he created a creative photo collage, placing himself next to the MICS Robot and bringing it playfully to life.

Boaz has won a technology workshop by MakerMinds for his entire class at MICS. The pupils can choose between 3D drawing, soldering, programming, robot building or creating electrical circuits.

Secondary school and adults: Arduino Robot Arm kit

In Category 2 (from secondary school age and adults), the prize went to Coen Meeder. He photographed the MICS Robot at the moment you leave the campus, with the construction activities still visible in the background. Coen will receive an Arduino Robot Arm kit, including a circuit board: a challenging technical set with which a movable robotic arm can be built and controlled.

“It’s fantastic to see how people of all ages are inspired by the MICS Robot. Boaz and Coen have captured not just the robot, but also the essence of MICS: curiosity, technology and creativity coming together in a single image,” says Niels Langenhuizen, Director of SDK Vastgoed and MICS developer.
